Deputy Director of Regional Planning
Salary: Annual range $115,008 — $174,084 + excellent benefits package.

The Deputy Director, Regional Planning reports to the Chief Deputy,
Regional Planning, and assists in the overall management of the
department with particular responsibility for directing, through
subordinate managers, one of the major functions of the
department, such as long range and community planning;
subdivision approval; and zoning administration. Incumbents must
exercise a thorough knowledge of a wide range of technical
planning principles, as well as the principles of organizational
management sufficient to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the
work of the division. Additionally, the Deputy Director, Regional
Planning must possess knowledge of all laws, ordinances, and
processes pertaining to the subdivision of property, the
administration of zoning ordinances, and the development of
community plans. This position manages programs effecting
community, area and coastal plans and ordinances. He/She
prepares other ordinances addressing single zoning issues, as
requested by the Board of Supervisors or the Regional Planning
Commission.
Training and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design
or a closely related field and five years’ progressively responsible
experience in city, county, or regional planning. One year of
experience must have included responsibility for formulating
policy and in assigning and evaluating, through subordinate
managers and supervisors, work related to land use planning,
transportation policy, zoning administration or subdivision
administration for a city or other geographic region with a
population of at least 50,000 persons.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles, purposes and laws governing redevelopment, community building and design, urban and regional planning, and environmental review; marketing and business attraction strategies; principles and practices of local and regional economic development and economic development financing.
Ability to administer with little or no supervision all aspects of redevelopment program, including initiation of procedural steps necessary to implement policy decisions from Executive Committee. Collect, analyze and interpret a variety of data and information involving redevelopment projects. Prepare accurate and concise reports. Establish effective working relationships with the public, other governmental agencies and professional colleagues. Write and speak clearly and effectively.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and work experience which clearly demonstrates possession of the listed knowledge and abilities. Normally, academic course work equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work business or public administration, economics, urban and regional planning, or a related field, plus two or more years of progressively responsible Redevelopment Agency experience.
Additional Qualifications
Knowledge of real estate transactions, real estate finance, and CEQA.

Currently, we are seeking the right person to fill the role of: Senior Biologist, Environmental Sciences/Business Leader to support our Santa Barbara or Valencia, CA offices. This is a great opportunity for the right person with a strong technical background in CEQA/NEPA requirements; while at the same time utilizing their business acumen and experiences in a business management role. This position will manage the current client base and needs as well as create new relationships and new business that continue to keep Dudek thriving in this state and industry!
Position Description:
Primary responsibilities include project management, business development, and technical report preparation. Primary geographic range is focused on Santa Barbara, Ventura, and northern Los Angeles counties.
Project Management: responsible for technical studies associated with large and small projects for both standalone biological services and services in support of larger California Environmental Quality Act/National Environmental Policy Act (CEQA/NEPA) projects (i.e., local, state, and federal lead agencies).
Business Development: preparation of proposals for competitive and sole-source clients, development of new clients, and coordination with multidisciplinary project managers and biological staff in other regional offices. Proposals include qualifications, scopes of work, and cost estimates for public and private clients for biological services for large and small projects for both standalone biological services and services in support of larger CEQA/NEPA projects.
Technical Report Management: preparation of constraints analyses, wetlands delineations, wetlands permit applications, focused survey reports, vegetation mapping, general wildlife or botanical surveys, federally and state-listed sensitive species surveys and permitting documents, and biological resources technical reports in accordance with CEQA/NEPA and/or a variety of other environmental documents.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in biological resources, botany, ecology or related field, or wildlife.The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing and verbal abilities, be well organized, and able to undertake independent work. Practical experience and familiarity with resource impact assessment under CEQA/NEPA will be fundamental for success in this position. Duties require strenuous field work in hot weather (over 100°F) and steep conditions.

Qualifications:
