Making Great Communities Happen

AICP CERTIFICATION

AICP certified planners carry a high mark of distinction because they are required to meet rigorous standards, maintain their expertise through continuing education, and serve community interests. If you are considering Certification, taking the AICP exam is the first step to become a certified planner.

To qualify, one must be a current APA member, submit an online application meeting certain education and experience criteria, and pass an examination.

The Exam Candidate Bulletin is your complete guide to becoming an AICP member.

Important Dates - Next Exam Window
The next testing window is November 9-24, 2009
Registration Deadline: July 14, 2009

NEW: Early-Bird Application Window
APA and AICP began offering an Early-Bird Application Window beginning with the November 2009 exam. Applicants who participate will receive their application approval or denial notice before other applicants.

How the Early-Bird Window Works
Anyone who submits his or her online application by Sunday, June 14, 2009, and whose employment and education verifications are received by Sunday, June 28, 2009, will receive an approval or denial notice by Monday, August 10, 2009. Any Early-Bird applicant who does not receive an approval or denial notice by this date will be notified that his or her application is still under review and that it will be given priority over other applicants to make sure approval or denial is received as soon as possible.
